It's been a while since we posted - sorry to all our followers! Life has been busy but Ella is doing very well and had good news about her eyes recently with pressure being an all time low.

We have a fantastic event coming up in August this year.....The RideLondon100 event has been taken on by The Fairy Queen Dream Team:

'Last Sunday we held our annual Junior Championships in which 80 of our students aged from 5 years to 14 years competed against each other in three categories: Kata, Kumite and Ground Fighting.

It was great to see so many students having a go and showing such lovely spirit, I hope everyone had a good day. A massive thank you to all the instructors / senior grade students who helped out on the day. We managed to raise an impressive £450 for the charity – the Moorfields Eye...

Yes, we did it - thanks to each and every one of YOU!!!!!

Dr Victoria Tovell is now in post at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London with a particular research project underway for Aniridia.

New school....new ventures

Ella started at Northern Counties school in September 2011 and this is an amazing step in the RIGHT direction for her!! A day filled with the right kind of approach:

Learning

Development

Play

Child centred pace

All centred around her complex needs and with staff trained to the highest levels. She's currently learning a mix of BSL and Canaan Barrie and they have commented how good her vision is and how well she responds - go Ella!

Scaling the heights - couple take on Ben Nevis challenge

Rebecca Young and Andrew Tate from Alnwick, contacted us after hearing about the campaign via Duchess Community High School in Alnwick. They asked if they could climb Ben Nevis for Shine the Light on Aniridia to help.....we were SO touched!!

They completed their amazing challenge at the end of August and have been collecting in funds for their feat.

We can't begin to thank them enough for their kindness and generosity - truly they have been amazing.

Loch Ness Marathon runner.....

Keith Tollerton very kindly ran the Loch Ness marathon last Sunday for us and completed it in an amazing 3 hours and 18 minutes!!

Basketball scores a HUGE support for Ella!

The European Basketball community, over the last week, have pledged their support to the Shine the Light on Aniridia campaign.

Donations from Greece, Russia, Turkey, Spain and many other countries have been received to date.
Ella's Grandfather, Alan Richardson, contacted his friend and colleague in Basketball, Costas Rigas, who then contacted over 400 people via email with the story of the campaign.
